skywalk.proboards.com/thread/42/next-generation-sign-ups------------------------ Kristen swung her luggage onto the train, yawning with discomfort. However, excitement was buried beneath it. She had to wake up very earlier this morning to get ready for the big day, but nothing could stop her from her joy at once again going to Hogwarts. Her snowy owl, Loony, clicked her beak in her cage, ruffling her feathers. Kristen smiled and looked back to her family. She hugged her mother and father and watched as her brothers boarded the train, too.

Katelyn Linwood waved goodbye to her parents with a rare, tender smile and boarded the train. She quickly snagged an empty seat and gently scratched Fenix, meowing softly, through the bars of his cage. Most people preferred owls, but Kate loved cats, Fenix especially. He even had good taste, hissing and spitting both school years before as they entered the gloomy dungeons of Slytherin.
Kate sighed and pulled out her worn notebook. She soon became engrossed in her writing, her thoughts far away from Hogwarts and the emerald color of her cloak.

Kristen boarded the train after sending a last glance to her parents. She looked around and quickly found a compartment with only one witch in it, accompanied by a cat. She was heavily concentrated on her writing. Kristen cleared her throat and asked, "May I sit here?"
She held Loony's cage her her hand. Loony seemed weary of the cat, but knew these firm iron bars would protect her from whatever harm could come from it.

Kate glanced up, irritated by the interruption. A slim, vaguely familiar girl with white hair stood in the doorway, clutching a owl cage.
"Sure," Kate said absently, "It's just me."
She wracked her brain for the girl's name, what was it? Carrie? Kristy?
"Hi . . . you're Kris, Kris Lovegood, right? I remember your name 'cause it's so similar to mine, and you and those Slytherin guys were always giving each other a hard time."
Kate broke off, embarrassed by her outburst. This girl probably had no idea who she was.

"Okay, thanks!" she quickly replied, squeezing into the compartment and setting down the cage before sitting down herself. "Oh, hey! Yeah, that's me. And if I remember correctly, you're Kate. Third year, right?"
She sighed, remembering the Slytherin house. Hatred travels from generation to generation, apparently.

"Yes," Kate answered, puzzled, "I didn't expect you to remember me, you have a good memory," And a good taste in enemies, but Kate wasn't about to say that out loud.
What to say now, Kate wondered, I've only spoken to her once.
"Um, I like your owl. What's her name?" There, a decent conversation starter; hopefully things won't get too awkward before this train ride ends, Kate mused.
